The nine-time world champion has signed a year-long contract with the Petronas Yamaha SRT team for the MotoGP 2021 edition. Rossi will be paired with his protégé at VR46 Academy, Franco Morbidelli.

With this decision, Valentino Rossi will add to his racing career, which he has started since 1996. The Monster Energy Yamaha team racer has been fighting in the MotoGP class for 20 years.

Rossi’s decision to continue racing until 2021 received appreciation from his MotoGP class rival Pol Espargaro. Although the Spanish rider admitted he did not idolize The Doctor, but he still feels honored to continue to compete with Rossi.

“I don’t know how many Rossi fans we will lose if he stops racing in 2021. Still, it’s great to be able to race with him as often as possible,” said Pol. Speedweek.

Valentino Rossi and Pol Espargaro are currently competing tightly on the MotoGP 2020 standings. Rossi is in 11th place with 58 points, while Pol sits below him and is only one point away from his rival.
