ENGLEWOOD, Colo. –Denver Broncos all-star linebacker Von Miller underwent surgery Friday to replace a dislocated ankle tendon.

Dr Joshua Metzl, one of the doctors on the team, performed the operation in the suburbs of Denver.

Although the time to rehabilitation for a subluxation of the peroneal tendon is four to six months, the fastest recoveries can occur in three months.

Head coach Vic Fangio said Miller would miss “some time” and eventually his name will be added to the long-term injured list, he declined to say his season was over.

Due to the pandemic and its effects on the NFL’s pre-season schedule this season, teams can bring an unlimited number of players back on the long-term injured list, provided they have been given the green light from medics.

The Broncos, who kick off their season Monday against the Tennessee Titans, avoided a second blow when they learned that the shoulder injury suffered by wide receiver Courtland Sutton was not serious.

Sutton will be off on Friday and will resume training on a limited basis on Saturday. His condition will be reassessed on a daily basis.
