CLEVELAND – Cleveland Browns tight end Austin Hooper had an appendectomy on Friday and will miss Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said it was a routine procedure and that Hooper, hired in the free agent market this winter, is not expected to be away for an extended period.

Hooper, who played two Pro Bowls in four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, has caught 22 passes for 205 yards this season. He’s made five or more catches in the Browns’ last three games.

In Hooper’s absence, Harrison Bryant, David Njoku and Stephen Carlson will be used by Stefanski.

The Browns have also announced that starting right guard Wyatt Teller will miss a second straight game with a calf injury. Chris Hubbard will replace him again.
