MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers win World Series against Tampa Bay Rays

The Los Angeles Dodgers baseball pros came out on top in the sixth game of the World Series and won their first championship in 32 years. Due to the 3-1 success they prevailed in the best-of-seven series against the Tampa Bay Rays 4-2. Before that, they had lost out twice in the final in the past three years.

The team had won the World Series for the first time in 1955, then under the name Brooklyn Dodgers in New York. After moving to Los Angeles in 1958, five more titles followed, the last time the franchise triumphed in 1988.

In the sixth final game, Tampa Bay initially seemed to report back one more time. Rookie Randy Arozarena gave the Rays an early lead with a home run, but in the sixth inning the Dodgers turned the game around within minutes. Until then, the Rays had been able to rely on their pitcher Blake Snell, but coach Kevin Cash decided on a substitution at the first uncertainty. The Dodgers took advantage of that.

The Dodgers were also surprised by a substitution: Justin Turner had to leave the pitch in the eighth inning. The third baseman had tested positive for the corona virus. During the game, the Dodgers were said to have been informed, confirmed Rob Manfred, the head of Major League Baseball (MLB). Then Turner was replaced.

Turner wrote on Twitter: “I feel great, have no symptoms at all. I’ve just experienced every emotion imaginable. I can’t believe I can’t be out there to party with my boys! But I’m so proud of this team and I’m incredibly excited for the city of LA. “

Turner was then allowed to go back to his teammates. The 35-year-old returned to the field at Globe Life Field in Arlington wearing a mouth and nose mask. 11,437 spectators had seen the last game of the MLB season in the stadium. Turner had himself photographed with the trophy, the Commissioner’s Trophy, and a video from the TV station Fox Sports shows how Turner takes off the mask for the winning photo with his teammates.
