Lyon president regrets not selling Memphis Depay to Barcelona page all

KOMPAS.com – President of Olympique Lyon, Jean-Michel Aulas, regretted the decision not to sell Memphis Depay to Barcelona in the summer transfer market this year.

With the closing of the summer transfer market, Memphis Depay is still linked with Barcelona.

In fact, the Dutch striker is said to have reached a personal agreement with Barcelona.

However, until the transfer market closes on Monday (5/10/2020) evening local time or Tuesday at 05.00 WIB, Depay in fact did not change his uniform from Lyon to Barcelona.

Depay did not go to Barcelona because at almost the same time the club nicknamed the Blaugrana failed to loan Ousmane Dembele to Manchester United.

Depay’s transfer from Lyon to Barcelona is indeed awaiting the certainty of Dembele’s loan to Man United.

This means that Depay will have to wait for the next transfer market if he wants to join Barcelona.

On the other hand, Lyon failed to get an income of 20 million euros (Rp 346 billion) from the sale of Depay.

Jean-Michel Aulas also described Memphis Depay’s failure to transfer to Barcelona as “not the best operation”.

Aulas deserves to be sorry because Depay’s contract at Lyon will end on June 30, 2021.

If Depay doesn’t want to extend his contract, Lyon will certainly lose the former Manchester United player for free in the summer transfer market next year.

“We are trying everything to extend (Depay’s contract) one more year. We have made some important proposals,” Aulas said. Sports Diary.

“Economically, this is not the best operation for us because the contract is ending soon,” he added.

Thus, Memphis Depay will continue to defend Lyon in the 2020-2021 season.

If Depay still doesn’t want to sign a new contract, Aulas can understand the 26-year-old’s choice.

“A lot of players try to end their contracts, it is a trend,” concluded Aulas.
