List of Colombia for Venezuela and Chile by Qualifiers: call for the Selection

The Colombian Football Federation published the call for the Colombian National Team for the first two dates of the South American Qualifiers to the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The team led by Carlos Queiroz will host Venezuela in Barranquilla on October 9 and visit Chile in Santiago on October 13.

The Portuguese coach provided a list of 24 players, most of them belonging to foreign teams and mainly from European leagues. Álvaro Montero and Aldair Quintana are the only footballers who play in Colombian professional soccer.

Falcao and James return to lead the National Team

The forward of the Galatasaray of Turkey and captain of the National Team He returns after a year and 4 months, his last match with the Colombia shirt was on June 29, 2019 in the elimination on penalties against Chile in the quarterfinals of the Copa América. Injuries left him out of the last three calls.

James lived something similar to that of Falcao, He has not played with the national team since that Cup match at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo. The ’10’ returned for the November squad of last year but injured his knee in a training session two days before facing Peru in Miami. He had to return to Madrid and that injury left him out of the field for about two months.

Defenses: Stefan Medina (Monterrey, Mex), Juan Guillermo Cuadrado (Juventus, Ita), Yerry Mina (Everton, Ing), Davinson Sánchez (Tottenham, Ing), Jeison Murillo (Celta, Esp), Jhon Lucumí (Genk, Bel), Frank Fabra (Boca Juniors, Arg) and Johan Mojica (Atalanta, Ita).

Midfielders: Matheus Uribe (Porto, Por), Jorman Campuzano (Boca Juniors, Arg), Wilmar Barrios (Zenit, Rus), Jefferson Lerma (Bournemouth, Ing), Yairo Moreno (León, Mex), Steven Alzate (Brighton, Ing) and James Rodríguez (Everton, Ing).

Forwards: Wilson Morelos (Rangers, Esc), Falcao García (Galatasaray, Tur), Duván Zapata (Atalanta, Ita), Luis Fernando Muriel (Atalanta, Ita) and Luis Díaz (Porto, Por).

Colombia match schedules

The National Team will play on Friday, October 9 against Venezuela at the Metropolitan Stadium of Barranquilla starting at 6:30 pm, Colombian time. On Tuesday the 13th they will face Chile at the National Stadium in Santiago from 7:30 pm, Colombian time (9:30 pm, local time).

The two matches of Colombia, like the other 8 of these first qualifying dates, They will be played without the public because of the coronavirus pandemic.
