Japanese CEO of STVV stores top six ambitions: “Our club cannot survive at the moment without selling players” | JPL matchday 11

STVVInstead of raving about the top six, CEO Takayuki Tateishi suddenly speaks realistic language, which means that it takes a lot more money. In other words, it will take a lot of work before the Canaries will be a customer for the top six.

Three years ago DMM took over the Truiense STVV from Roland Duchâtelet. And the new owners immediately made the supporters ‘crazy’ with heavy promises. “Top six within three years”, they promised with one hand. A promise that was repeated the season later, in July, during the presentation of the team and the new shirts. But see, after a successful year, there was only a downward trend. Stayen also looked more and more like a dovecote and rental players, who at first were so vehemently renounced, made their appearance again. The consequences can be guessed. Less results, massive numbers of subscribers and supporters who turned their backs on their club. The miserable start this season was the straw that broke the bucket.

After a number of open letters and heavy posts on social media, CEO Takayuki Tateishi was unable to hide himself and, together with the entire board and employees, entered into a conversation with a delegation from the Supporters Association. There suddenly sounded realistic language, the top six was silent. “Right now, a budget of 20 to 22 million is needed to avoid the degradation,” said Tateishi. “And I suspect that this won’t even be enough in the next three years. Right now we get to that 22 million as follows: 10 million from local sponsors and TV money, 6 million from Japan, and 6 million from transfers. To be honest, our club cannot survive at this point without selling players. To get a truly competitive club that can also remain financially healthy, much more is needed: 12 million extra to keep everything in balance. That is the reality. But we are working on that. ”
