In the complementary stage, one minute into the game, Cúcuta Deportivo was left with one less player, after Jean Pineda’s attack on Israel Escalante. Medellín got into the game and attacked on the left side with Mosquera, who in five minutes had a couple of clear options to tie the score.

The local took advantage of the numerical superiority to approach the rival goal, with more desire than precision. Cúcuta reacted until minute 15, with a deflected shot from Agustín Vuletich.

At minute 16 and after a corner kick from the left sector, Bayron Garcés caught a rebound inside the area and with his right leg equalized the score before being replaced by Carlos Monges.
