When it became clear that Hildisch was seriously injured, the referees stopped the game immediately.
The diagnosis is devastating
Hildisch’s shocked coach Vidar Wold emphasized after the accident that the action was not an intentional foul by the opponent. After the accident, Hildisch is immediately taken to the university clinic in Ullevål in Oslo and operated on that night. But the doctors’ diagnosis is devastating.
Hildisch suffered such severe spinal cord injuries during the collision that he will remain paralyzed. The talent is slated to be taken to a rehab hospital in the coming week.
“We’re all in shock. It is a terrible, tragic and still completely unreal situation. The most important thing for us now is to be there for Mats and his family, ”said Nicolay Sørensen, Frisk-Asker managing director, deeply affected.

On Tuesday, coach Wold posted a photo from Frisk Asker’s ice rink, where the club hung a banner with Hildisch’s shirt number 7 after the accident. He wrote on Twitter: “Norwegian ice hockey is there when it comes to thinking about our ice hockey family.”
Hildisch himself has also already spoken out. The young man reacted bravely to his serious accident. On his Instagram account, he shared a selfie from the hospital bed, which shows him with a ruff, among other things.
Hildisch, who already played for the Norwegian U16 and U18 team, wrote: “As many of you know, I suffered a serious injury, a broken cervical vertebra and an injury to the spinal cord. I’m being transferred to a rehab center on Monday and ready to work more than ever. Thank you for your support, it helps me a lot. “
