As a junior, Gaston reached the top of the ITF ranking in September 2018. In that year he had a brief but very successful stint in Buenos Aires. There, obtained the gold medal of the Youth Olympic Games in singles after defeating 6-3 and 7-5 in the final to Facundo Díaz Acosta.
