Houssem Aouar explains his failure to move to Arsenal. Here’s the 22-year-old midfielder’s explanation.
Arsenal are very interested in bringing Aouar away from Lyon to the Emirates Stadium. Cannon London has also reportedly submitted two bid proposals to Lyon.
Poor for Arsenal. Lyon twice rejected the proposal. The price proposed by the Gunners was still below Lyon’s expectations, which was 55 million pounds.
Aouar appeared in front of the media to explain his current situation. He admits that he wants another season to serve Les Gones before taking the next step in his career. Including the matter of rumors to Arsenal.
“(Why would I want to stay at Lyon?) Mainly because I feel I can still bring a lot to this team and the club, it’s that simple,” he told Telefoot.
“I want to continue the adventure with the club that raised me. We now have to lift our heads because we have to look better,” he continued.
Arsenal are desperate to catch Aouar. Manager Mikel Arteta returned to focus on trying to get Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid. If that failed, Arsenal tried their luck by trying to borrow Jorginho from Chelsea.
Arsenal are currently likely to release two of their midfielders. Lucas Torreira has had medical tests at Atletico and Matteo Guendouzi at Herta Berlin.
“I’m sure we know exactly what we want to do, we are all trying our best to complete the deal we want. Whether it’s releasing someone on loan or bringing someone in,” Arteta was quoted as saying on Arsenal’s official website.
