LAS VEGAS – The Vegas Golden Knights on Friday unveiled a new gold metallic jersey to be worn during the 2020-21 season.

“Adidas knows what to expect if we work with them now,” said Killingsworth. “They are great partners, but they know it will be different. There was a lot of doubt on both sides. We asked for something that had never been done before.”

The sweater is the first all-metallic gold jersey in the NHL. The vision was to “be brave and bright just like the community the team is proud of calling home,” the team said in a statement.

The nameplate and the numbers are black with a white border around the numbers. The sleeves have stripes that reflect the Golden Knights’ current jersey rotation. Steel gray with white numbers, a white stripe and a small red stripe.

The shirt was revealed in a music video starring Las Vegas icon Wayne Newton and hip-hop star Lil Jon.

“When Mr. Foley and the Golden Knights leadership expressed their desire to earn gold, it was our team to turn it from an idea into a reality,” said Dan Near, Senior Director of adidas Hockey. “When our prototype completed the job and had the characteristics to withstand the rigorous performance tests that every new fabric is subjected to, the pride in the organization and product development team was very special, knowing that this unparalleled design would require a unique effort. “

Killingsworth said it was important for players to love the kit and be comfortable with it on the ice. For the fans, the idea was to have something to wear to games as well as a night on the Las Vegas Strip.

“It really reflects Vegas, and that’s part of the feedback we’ve received,” said Killingsworth. “It’s the lifestyle aspect. It’s not just a hockey jersey, it’s a fashion statement.”

The Golden Knights sell 777 “treasure chests”, which consist of the jersey, the customization of the sweater and a limited gold coin. The first 300 chests are also equipped with adidas Ultraboost shoes made of metallic gold.

The total for the package with the shoes is $ 777 and $ 499 without. The shirt will go on sale on Saturday.

“It’s important for us as a brand [to have this third jersey]”Said Killingsworth.” Who we are as a franchise, who we are as an organization, is evolving. It is only logical that the Golden Knights wear a gold jersey. It will be something that will stand out when you watch our games on the T-Mobile Arena or on TV. You will know Vegas is on TV. “
