Diamon Simpson, the pivot that Quimsa aspires to urgently add

100% Argentinian spirit. This is how the third semifinal of the BCLA between Quimsa and San Lorenzo could be defined, whose winner will face Flamengo in Montevideo on October 30. A miniseries could be made of what happened in the last two weeks.

First Quimsa moved, signing Franco Baralle and then Trevor Haskins. San Lorenzo took the next step, strong, announcing in a single day 4 foreigners, including Dar Tucker, the most desired piece. That made Quimsa accelerate and go stronger for Brandon Robinson, who he brought in as soon as he was cut by Astros de México. While negotiating Draper’s trip, and already had Ysmael Romero approved.

When the Cuban thing fell, he had to go out to look for other alternatives and, although he kept looking, he assured Anthony Kent, on loan from Oberá, that he had already been booked. And today, although it is not closed, he would be traveling to Argentina’s Diamon Simpson, a 2.04 and 33-year-old power forward or pivot, who played last season at Ironi Nahariya in Israel.

However, Simpson’s background is much better than this last step. He started in the G-League after leaving University, then he played in the Philippines, Turkey, Australia, Israel, Spain (Students, in the acb); Czech Republic, again Israel, again Turkey, again the Philippines, Russia in 2018/19, although ending that same year in Israel and then again in the Philippines. A globetrotter, bah.

With Simpson, Sebastián González then adds these players to the BCLA semi-finals, for now: Nicolás Copello, Fabián Ramírez Barrios, Mauro Cosolito, Trevor Gaskins, Franco Baralle, Iván Gramajo, Emiliano Toretta, Bryan Carabali (it will be cut if Simpson and Draper, because he would exceed foreign chips), Francisco Conrradi, Lucio Longoni, Brandon Robinson and Anthony Kent. And Draper and Simpson himself would be added. And maybe one more, but it’s part of the mystery of this semi …
