Dia Mohammad Saba: Israel’s football envoy in Dubai

Dhe normalization agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates was a few days old, when players’ agents Gilad and Ronen Katsav thought about how they could promote the deal “on a sporting level”. At least that’s what Katsav said on the radio, and they quickly came across one of their most valuable clients: Israel’s international Dia Mohammad Saba, who was still playing for Guangzhou in China at the time, but was no longer happy there. Then everything went very fast.

Saba is moving to the Al Nasr club in Dubai for at least two and a half million euros and should earn three million euros a year there. He is the first Israeli professional to play golf. At the request of his Jewish player advisor, the two-year contract was signed before the highest holiday, Yom Kippur. “We were received like kings,” wrote the 27-year-old midfielder on Instagram. Saba has already completed her first training sessions in the Emirates.
