DFB: Fritz Keller attacks his own top management and then rows back

Wednesday, October 7th, breakfast time: 200 investigators rang the doorbells all over the country. They had surrounded the Frankfurt DFB headquarters; they searched Vice-President Rainer Koch, a civilian judge. And with General Secretary Friedrich Curtius, who stood helplessly in front of them with two arms in plaster because he had fallen off a ladder.

Tax raid at the DFB.

Shortly afterwards, the boss, Fritz Keller, got involved in the federal press conference in Berlin. The DFB President said that he was in favor of education, and yes, how happy he was about the “state support”. Not a word of discharge, of defense. It was an affront to my colleagues. And not the last.

Because on the same evening Germany played against Turkey in Cologne. What was more exciting than the kick: the game Keller against Koch, against Curtius and the other current and former DFB men who are said to have evaded taxes for the association. Keller was supposed to be in the stadium, but did not appear; he left the hotel. According to the official DFB reading, because after the raid he was “the employee

inside Frankfurt wanted to stand by your side “. In fact, however, at least that’s what people from the DFB delegation say, with a justification that is a fire sentence: He doesn’t let himself be photographed with the accused on a grandstand.
