Champions League: Bayern fight for victory at Lok Moscow

Leron Goretzka headed CL defending champion Bayern in the 13th minute. But the hosts, who were loudly supported by 7,000 spectators in the NZD Arena, rewarded themselves for their resistance and a high level of running and fighting effort with Anton Mirantschuk’s equalizing goal (70th).

A week before the duel with Salzburg, Bayern presented themselves strong on the offensive, but without emphasis – and defensively vulnerable. Already the opening minutes brought a great chance for the hosts through Fyodor Smolow, who however headed into the hands of Manuel Neuer (3rd). Bayern made it 1-0. Benjamin Pavard passed a long pass from Constantin Tolisso volley on to the head of Goretzka, who overcame Guilherme in the Lok gate from a short distance (13th).

Coman awards preliminary decision

After conceding the goal, the Muscovites’ carefree presentation was over. A near-copy of 1-0 ended with a pole shot from Kingsley Coman (25th). Again and again the Bavarians tore up the locomotive defense with this pattern, but missed the easily possible preliminary decision.

In the 70th minute the Russians cheered, who completed a counterattack against the Brazilian Ze Luis and Mirantschuk, who entered the penalty area. Even ÖFB star David Alaba, who played through in central defense as usual, did not get his legs in between.

A penalty decision after a foul on Robert Lewandowski had previously been withdrawn by the VAR due to an offside position. Bayern even wavered afterwards, but then Kimmich once again proved his worth with a precise volley from the edge of the penalty area.

Mönchengladbach awards victory

In Mönchengladbach, an Austrian trio already had a special cheer on their lips. But the big Real came in the finish to 2: 2. Karim Benzema (87th) and Casemiro (93rd) made sure that the Madrilenians did not go for a swim again after the 2: 3 at the start against Shakhtar Donetsk. Marcus Thuram had presented with a double (33rd, 58th).

With the second goal, ÖFB team defender Stefan Lainer did the preparatory work for Alhassane Plea with a cross, whose shot Thibaut Courtois blocked at Thuram’s feet. Hannes Wolf came on in the 79th minute, Valentino Lazaro was a substitute.

Really hardly developed against the Germans, who were excellently adjusted by former Salzburg coach Marco Rose, over long periods. Top of the table with four points is Shakhtar Donetsk in Group B after a flattering 0-0 win against Inter Milan. The Italians had already given up points at the start against Mönchengladbach (2-2).

English clubs safe

The English top clubs Manchester City and Liverpool fulfilled their duty on the way to their second group win against outsiders. City was safe in Marseille thanks to goals from Ferran Torres (18th), Ilkay Gündogan (76th) and Raheem Sterling (81st).

In Liverpool, Diogo Jota brought the lackluster “Reds” against a Danish no-name troop on course (55th), Mohamed Salah (93rd) scored the final point with a penalty kick. Coach Jürgen Klopp initially spared his three gala strikers Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
