Attention: Ministry of Sports takes away sports recognition from Cúcuta, millionaire debts | Colombian Soccer | Betplay League

Justice was delayed, limps as they say, but finally arrives: this Thursday the Ministry of Sports made a radical decision against Cúcuta Deportivo, as expected months ago.

“We inform the country that Cúcuta Deportivo has been notified with the suspension of sports recognition,” announced the Minister of Sports, Ernesto Lucena.

The team, led by José Augusto Cadena, has presented arrears several times in the payments of the players’ payroll, which have been denounced by those affected.

In addition, it accumulates millionaire debts with the capital of Norte de Santander for taxes and costs of the use of the General Santander stadium. The situation forced the team to play their home games in Armenia, where, according to complaints, there is overcrowding in the concentration and few biosecurity conditions.

“Whoever does not comply with the labor obligations of our athletes, in this case the players, will have the corresponding sanction,” said the official about the time it took to analyze the case and exhaust all instances.

Finally, then, radical measures are taken against a team that fails to fulfill its obligations, a situation that can be exemplary since it is not the only case in Colombian football.
