DOGS DIRECTOR REFUSES DONS ‘DUNKLEY DALLIANCE
Western Bulldogs football director Luke Darcy believes it would be a “big surprise” if star midfielder Josh Dunkley leaves this off-season despite a rival club lurking for him.

MERRETTS MANAGEMENT MUST MOVE MINUS MUDDINESS
Essendon’s midfielder Zach Merrett’s management needs to “get up somewhere” and make his future clear, according to great club Tim Watson.
Merrett has been the center of speculation for the past few weeks, despite being signed for the next year – the final season before joining the free agency.
Collingwood is said to be interested in Merrett as new Essendon president Paul Brasher publicly denies that he and other players want to leave the club.
But Watson wants Merrett and his agents to clarify things with a public statement.
“I don’t know 100 percent (whether he’ll stay). I thought he would stay, but that’s the point. If he (stays) and has a year left to fulfill his contract, it’s all just speculation, ”Watson continued SEN breakfast.
“If this is all just talk, all his management has to do today, Tom Petroro is his manager. Just get up somewhere, make a statement, Tom, and say, ‘Yes, Merrett, stop this speculation, he’s not going anywhere. He wants to stay with Essendon and will play out his contract with the Bombers. We are not sure what happens beyond that, but for now he is preparing for it.
“I know Paul Brasher said he had a conversation with Zach and Zach said he was staying, but I would like to hear from his management that he is not going anywhere.
“Otherwise, this speculation will continue throughout the trading period.”
