QUEENSLAND – Collingwood faces a precarious argument with Adam Treloar as the gun ball winner is said to dig in his heels and force the club to show his hand.
Foxfooty.com.au understands that Treloar’s conversations with the club since the shameful exit from the final have left the 27-year-old incredibly frustrated and convinced that Collingwood wants to let him go.
President Eddie McGuire said this week he was “confident” that Treloar will be at the pies in 2021, but behind the scenes, Treloar is disenfranchised from the club’s intention to shift its salary – which will rise in 2021 – to a rival.

Speculation of a deal between Collingwood and the Lions or Suns has been rife since Treloar’s partner Kim Ravaillion, a professional netball player, announced that she had signed with the Queensland Firebirds to return from maternity leave.
But Treloar will immediately turn down a move to Brisbane or the Gold Coast, effectively forcing Collingwood to explain his hand and tell him he’s gone, creating a stalemate between the club and the player.
His management has tried to stop the trade discussion because Treloar prefers to stick with the magpies. But the 27-year-old doesn’t want to play for a club that doesn’t want him and would be reluctant to consider moving to another Victorian team.
Treloar moved south from GWS to be with his friends and family. Although he has close friends at the club, like Jeremy Howe, he has stayed close with the same group of friends he grew up with.
Rival clubs believe it is a matter of time before they receive a call from Collingwood about Treloar.

Collingwood tries to navigate difficult waters with his list management. Jordan De Goey, Josh Daicos and Brodie Mihocek are all out of contracts and the Pies released Treloar’s name last October.
His interview with AFL 360 and the comments of Collingwood President Eddie McGuire too Footy classified told more for what they didn’t say earlier this week than for what they said.
Treloar consistently claimed he was a contract player and wants to stay, but at the time of this interview, foxfooty.com.au knew he knew the Magpies were open to helping him out.
Treloar, who has made 10 senior games this season, believes the pies are trying to break him but he remains determined. He has the upper hand and doesn’t blink first.
Treloar and his family will be spending the next week or two in Byron Bay before returning to Melbourne in November.
The trading period begins in 19 days.
