A galapero seeks glory in Portuguese football

What started as a youth dream ended up being the opportunity of a lifetime. Cristian Castro Devenish, 19, from the municipality of Galapa, Atlántico, made the great leap to Europe in the middle of this year.

His story is one of many young people who are going to try their luck in the ‘Old Continent’ without even having debuted in the first division of Colombian soccer.

Your pass belongs to Atlético Nacional, where he worked until recently in minor divisions, when he got the opportunity to try out the Boavista U23 team, the fourth most historic team in Portuguese football.

But thanks to its excellent conditions, Cristian flew that journey through the youth of the checkered box and landed immediately in the first team, where he has already added two games, 165 minutes and one start, the last weekend, in the 2-2 draw against Famalicao, for the fourth day of the Portuguese championship.

In dialogue with EL HERALDO, Castro spoke about the experience he is living at Boavista, his beginnings, his tastes, his goals and the great friendship that unites him with Luis Díaz, one of the representatives of our football in the Portuguese League.
