2022 QB Quinn Ewers with five stars leaves Texas

Southlake Carroll five star quarterback Quinn Ewers, the No. 1 quarterback in 2022 on the 247Sports Composite and the No. 1 prospectus in the Top247 for 2022, who was released from Texas on Wednesday. Ewers signed up to Texas on August 14, making him the top-rated quarterback prospect who has since been committed to the Longhorns Vince Young In 2002, but a little over two months later, Ewers was back on the market.

Ewers announced his cancellation of the obligation from the Longhorns in a Twitter post. Ewers didn’t mention any other college programs in the mail, but 247Sports compiled a list of potential landing spots for the five-star signal caller. The 247Sports Crystal Ball for Ewers also tended to have a Big Ten program. Ewers thanked the head coach Tom Herman and the Longhorns for recruiting:

“Recently, when I was racing with my teammates during my junior season at Southlake Carroll, I also took some time to think about my future. Given the COVID-19 pandemic we are facing, I was This has been a challenging year for students like myself, with the support of my family, trying to control the recruiting process as much as possible. As the process was abnormal this season, I did my best to be open to all possibilities. The more However, the more I realized that I had not explored all of the options as thoroughly as I would have liked, so I made a decision to pick up and reassess the situation before making such an important decision about my future I would like to thank the University of Texas for their belief in me and my abilities, I understand that this year also for the trainers and administrators was a challenge. I therefore appreciate your understanding and wish you all the best for your future. My family and I also thank Texas Longhorn fans who were t heritage interested in support. I will soon make a firm decision about where to spend the next formative years of my life and career, and I look forward to sharing this with you. “

Ewers, one of the top Texas quarterbacks, has drawn comparisons to Clemson’s Trevor Lawrencewho is likely # 1 in the 2021 NFL draft and former first round draft pick and Pro Bowl quarterback Philip Rivers. The latter is the recruiting analyst for 247Sports Gabe Brooks compared Ewers to the submission of his personal review:

“Prototype frame for elite QB prospects. Good height with a slim, athletic build that offers more space. Dynamic natural playmaker in QB position. Shows impressive stand-and-deliver skills in the pocket as well as great off-schedule instincts Varies arm angles as needed. Huge second year production for multi-year Texas 6A performance. Accuracy aided by 2019 degree of completion (72.4) and amazing TD-INT ratio (45-3) versus outstanding competition compared to high school Level routes and throws in the red zone. Creeping speed that allows him to drive the ball across the center of the field and out of the numbers. Shows the required strength of the downfield arm in vertical passing. Sporty enough to play the games to be extended regularly in order to find recipients and also to be dangerous with planned runs, but constant, repeated delivery can b accelerate. When it comes to sportiness, tests or context are missing. Elite QB is among the top 2022 prospects in the country regardless of position. Projects up to the high major level with a long-term, early NFL draft ceiling. “

Texas once seemed to be building a quarterback room worthy of what everyone in the country could boast but the plans of Herman and offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich have been blown up in the last few months when it comes to the future. After Ewers signed up to the Longhorns, they lost the four-star quarterback’s engagement from 2021 Jalen Milroe by Katy Tompkins with the No. 4 ranked quarterback with double threat and No. 83 in the 247Sports composite conversion making the leap to head coach Nick Saban and Alabama.

Texas has four star prospects in 2020 Hudson card and Yes’Quinden Jackson on campus and the Longhorns have secured a commitment from Austin High’s Charles Wrightwho want to enroll on Forty Acres in January. Unless Sam Ehlinger Decides to use NCAA Freeze Eligibility for the 2020 season by returning to Texas for another season. The Longhorns will start the 2021 season with Card, Jackson, Wright and Redshirt in their second year Casey Thompson in the quarterback room and no commitment in the 2022 cycle.

Without Ewers, Texas has two oral pledges in the 2022 class, ranked 11th nationwide out of 247Sports. The Longhorns have a commitment on the offensive side of the ball (Lancaster four-star recipient Phaizon Wilson, 246th place in 247Sports Composite) and 1st place in defense (Port Arthur Memorial four-star cornerback) Jaylon Guilbeau145 in the 247Sports Composite).
