QUEENSLAND – RICHMOND like Jake Aarts by his team against St. Kilda on Friday night.
Foxfooty.com.au understands that Damien Hardwick and his selection panel placed the call and informed the ripe old age recruit of their decision.
The tigers could bring back Josh Caddy or Tom Lynch for Aarts. The latter would represent a change in thinking and allowing Toby Nankervis and Mabior Chol to take responsibility.
Aarts had eight departures against Brisbane and has been a key trait in each of the club’s last 14 games.
He made his debut in Round 5 against Melbourne and has played every game with 14 goals since then.
The 25-year-old was one of only six Richmond players to miss out on the 2019 VFL or AFL Premier League due to a suspension.
In the meantime, Lynch says he’ll be fit for St. Kilda despite scans on Tuesday – and not on his pesky Achilles tendon.
The Tigers will nominate their team for the game on Friday night late Thursday afternoon.
SOUTH PORT – GEELONG Superstar Patrick Dangerfield has stated Joel Selwood A certain starter for the semi-finals against Collingwood on Saturday night.
The Cats captain slipped his left middle finger last Friday evening and had an operation the next day.
Selwood did laps on Monday and won’t be in full practice Wednesday night, but he’s scheduled to do some tackle and ball work on Friday.
Confident Geelong will bounce back at the Gabba, Dangerfield gave his midfield mate a glowing endorsement on Wednesday morning.
“If his leg wasn’t cut off, he (Selwood) will likely be out there,” said the 2020 All-Australian captain.
“We haven’t trained yet, but if you don’t run him over in the car on the way back, I would really expect the skipper to take the lead on Saturday night.”
The news is a boost to Geelong that will not come Jack Steven as a choice.
Steven sustained a hamstring injury at the weekend and the club haven’t ruled out a provisional return should the result go in the right direction.
