The Arsenal evening headlines as Arteta prepares to download three players and Emery’s reunion plot

Here are the Arsenal titles for the evening of Wednesday 2 September.

Mikel Arteta ready to unload three players to finance the move of the Atletico Madrid midfielder

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is willing to let three players leave the club this summer to help fund a move for Thomas Partey.

The Atletico Madrid midfielder has been constantly linked to a move to Emirates Stadium for a number of weeks and months and Arteta is keen to make a deal for the 27-year-old ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.

Second the mirror, the Gunners could dump three players, with Matteo Guendouzi one that went on sale this summer.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos is another who would be allowed to leave Emirates Stadium if a good enough offer was made for the Greek international, with Rob Holding set to sign for Newcastle United.

The former Arsenal striker claims Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Ian Wright believes the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a new contract would be Arsenal’s next deal in the summer transfer window.

Arteta has reiterated more than once his belief that Aubameyang will put down a new deal to keep him in North London, but Arsenal fans, including Wright, remain nervous as the saga continues to drag on.

“To be honest, I think it will be the most significant purchase Mikel can make,” Wright said Good morning Great Britain. “We have to make it happen, simply because of what it brings to that team.

“When you look at the chances created for Arsenal, there were 16 in the league and he still scored the number of goals he scored.

“So if you can imagine, we can start creating more with the players we’ve signed – the Willians and people like that – then he’ll score more goals. It’s imperative that he sign.”

Former Arsenal manager Unai Emery hopes to plan a move for Emiliano Martinez if the goalkeeper is told he won’t be Arsenal’s first pick this season.

Martinez, who in the last few games of last season proved to be a capable substitute for the injured Bernd Leno, would like to stay at the Emirates Stadium, but only if considered Arteta’s first choice goalkeeper.

The telegraph says Emery, now head of Villarreal, is thrilled to lure Martinez to La Liga if the Argentine is informed that he will be seen as a replacement for Leno once again this season.

It is also reported that Arteta has yet to speak with both Leno and Martinez about who will be his first-choice goalkeeper for the 2020/21 season.
