Rome: Elina Svitolina holds her rank against Svetlana Kuznetsova – tennis – WTA – Rome

Elina Svitolina put on a good set before making a real difference in her round of 16 against Svetlana Kuznetsova (7-6 (8), 6-4) on Friday in Rome. The Ukrainian broke quickly in the match (3-1) before losing her serve (3-2). She then wasted two set points at 6-5 to finally win in the tie-break. The sixth player in the world was then able to play her game with more serenity.

The second round, however, started on the same basis with an exchange of break lost then conceded. But this time, Svitolina had the last word before the decisive game by taking the service of her opponent, and the advantage at the same time, never to let go again.

Kuznetsova may well offer a good resistance by saving a break point and then three match points, the case was heard. The Ukrainian therefore qualified for the quarter-finals where she will face the winner of the match between Marketa Vondrousova and Polona Hercog.
