Reigning US Open champion Gary Woodland paired with Shane Lowry, US Amateur winner Andy Ogletree

Gary Woodland will begin defending his US Open title alongside Open Champion Shane Lowry and US Amateur Winner Andy Ogletree on Thursday at 1:05 pm at Winged Foot Golf Club.

The 2020 tournament has been postponed from June to this week due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Woodland won the US Open in 2019 at Pebble Beach and Lowry won the Open at Royal Portrush last summer. Ogletree, who played at Georgia Tech, won the 2019 US Amateur at Pinehurst.

Three-time US Open champion Tiger Woods is grouped with the most recent main winner, Collin Morikawa and Justin Thomas. They start playing from the first tee at 8:07 am with a tee time at 1:27 pm on Friday. Morikawa, on his second league start, won the PGA Championship last month at Harding Park.

Other groupings have Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Justin Rose out at 8:07 on the 10th tee; Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed and Hideki Matsuyama leave at 7:56 am.

Number 1 ranking Dustin Johnson, reigning PGA Tour player of the year, will play at 1:16 pm with Bryson DeChambeau and Tony Finau.

Phil Mickelson, who had one of his six runners-up at the US Open at the Winged Foot in 2006, starts playing at 1:27 pm with Paul Casey and John Rahm, number 2.

Due to the pandemic, the United States Golf Association eliminated local and sectional qualifiers for the US Open and opted for an exempt format based on several criteria. It also reduced the pitch from 156 to 144 players to accommodate less daylight.

The tees start at 6:50 am and last until 2:10 pm with players taking turns starting on the first and tenth tees for the first two rounds.
