Like every season, BASKET EUROPE offers its subscribers the presentation of each team and of each Jeep Elite player and coach. Today, AS Monaco. You can get 30 days free subscription: HERE.

There was a delay in the ignition in the construction of the Roca Team version 2020-21 but the strategy was wanted by its management staff and in the end it appears to be paying off; the competition will not fail to smile at the sight of the roster and hearing that the club announces a budget cut of around 35%, which would bring it down to € 5.5 million.

Let us also note that the ASM was a victim of the financial power and the sporting attractiveness of two Euroleague clubs since the Red Star of Belgrade stole its trainer Sasha Obradovic while Villeurbanne took on board its star leader Norris Cole and the international Paul Lacombe, who had just spent three seasons in the Principality. Do not underestimate either the impact of the departure of Yakuba Ouattara, who stayed there four seasons plus one game. This is why Monaco found itself completely stripped down for a while with the only Will Yeguete under contract.

The priority mission has been to find a successor to Sasha Obradovic and it is ultimately and naturally Zvezdan Mitrovic who takes over the orders he had in his hands from 2015 to 2018. The Montenegrin was the symbol of the rise in power of this mushroom club passed in a snap from the Nationale 2 to the top of the Jeep Elite and the Eurocup. His return is a guarantee of security and he will be keen to achieve at ASM what he has achieved with ASVEL: winning a title of champion of France. For this, he will need to better control his impulsiveness, which was expensive in the 2018 playoff final against Le Mans.

Monaco has also made a point of renewing two major players, the leader Dee Bost, who will perform his fourth season here with great regularity overall in performance and who has this little grain of madness that can resolve situations that are a priori compromised, and winger JJ O’Brien. According to information from Nice Morning, the two players agreed to review their emoluments significantly downwards. Being able to afford the MVP of the German league final tournament, Marcos Knight, proves that you are still financially comfortable.
