From outside Real Madrid Gareth Bale at Liverpool targets Thiago

Manchester United have only signed one signing so far this summer with Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

The arrival of the £ 40m Dutchman will be a welcome boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but the Norwegian will know he needs more signings if he is to try to bridge the gap with Liverpool and Man City this season.

Solskjaer will be desperate to make more purchases before the October deadline

Another of the top four rivals, Chelsea, have also been extremely busy in the transfer market, with SIX players joining the Blues so far this summer.

Arsenal are also growing with Mikel Arteta and more signings must be a priority for United if the club is to maintain its position in the Champions League.

Several prominent talents have been linked to the move to the club – including Borussia Dortmund prodigy Jadon Sancho – but the Red Devils have so far been reluctant to pay the German side’s £ 108m asking price for the 20-year-old.

But what other stars could be on their way to the club? talkSPORT.com has identified four transfers that may be made before the October deadline …

Benoit Badiashile (Munich)

United are looking for a new central defender and a £ 23m deal has been proposed for Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile.

Solskjaer wants a new defender as Harry Maguire’s sidekick this season and the 19-year-old has emerged as his main target, with Dayot Upamecano staying at RB Leipzig for another season.

United have already received a rejected offer from Monaco, but reports over the weekend suggest the Red Devils will return with another offer in the £ 23m region.

Badiashile has scored three goals in 48 games in all competitions since establishing himself as a starter for AS Monaco.

Sergio Reguilon (Real Madrid)

United are believed to be stepping up their search for Real Reguilon defender.

Reports say the Premier League side are stuck “in talks” with the Blancos to sign the defender, who was voted best left-back in La Liga last season.

The 23-year-old, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Sevilla during the 2019/20 season, will be available for around £ 23m.

Reguilon has been extremely impressive for the Spanish side in the race to Europa League glory and is said to have caught the eye of Solskjaer, who is looking to add competition in the left-back spot.

Thiago Alcantara (Bayern Munich)

Liverpool are at the forefront of signing the Spaniard, but if Old Trafford bosses make sense, they should hijack the deal.

The Bayern Munich midfielder has less than a year on his contract and could sell for £ 27m this summer – a blow for a player of his quality.

The 29-year-old, a product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy, has proven himself to be a serial winner in Germany.

Thiago has won seven consecutive Bundesliga titles and four German Cups with Bayern since joining the club from Barcelona in 2013, but now he wants to leave to face a new challenge.

Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)

Speculation has been rife about the future of the Welshman, who is out of favor under Zinedine Zidane at Real.

Reports have suggested that the former Tottenham man is now heavily regarded as an alternative to Sancho.

It is understood that the Bernabeu bosses are willing to pay half of his £ 600,000 a week salary to see the Welshman leave.

The 31-year-old nearly quit last summer, but the La Liga club canceled a deal with a Chinese Super League team at the last minute.

He ended up spending a lot of time on the bench last season and even asked not to travel to Manchester for Real’s Champions League clash with Man City in August.

Bale has extensive experience and has helped Madrid win 13 major trophies, including two LaLiga titles and four European Cups.
