Federal championships in Weiz: Twelve medals for Enns badminton players

Askö Enns Badminton is doing well at the national championships
For the 100th anniversary of ATUS Weiz in Styria, the ASKÖ national championships in badminton were held. The young badminton section of the ASKÖ Enns was there and achieved a more than respectable result with twelve medal ranks.

ENNS. From September 12th to 13th, more than 140 players came to Austria’s largest badminton event every year in Weiz, Styria, to determine the national champions in all possible competitions. Emma Gérard from ASKÖ Enns was the youngest participant at the age of 8, the oldest participant was almost 80 years old.
Overall, the 10 Enns players competed in all competitions, i.e. singles, doubles and mixes, and were rewarded with precious metal for their brave efforts. In the end, twelve medals, one silver and eleven bronze, were taken home with them.

Strong offspring

Section head Michael Peter Giel is particularly proud of his four youngest participants: “Promoting young talent is a top priority in Enns. I am therefore particularly pleased with the performance of our young players Emma Gérard, Helene Linninger and Raphael and Tabea Weilig, who together won four of the twelve medals. A great performance at our first national championship. “
However, podium places were also achieved in classes O-35 and O-40. “This success is motivating and therefore of course we continue to train hard in order to achieve good results in the current championship. The first championship game ended 3: 3 away against a strong team from Stadl-Paura. That gives us a boost for the upcoming games, ”said Giel.
