Eagles injury update: encouraging signs with Jalen Reagor, Lane Johnson and more

There was no sign of Javon Hargrave in training for the Eagles, but a host of other key injured Eagles were back on the training ground in the pads on Wednesday, a very encouraging sign four days before the opening of the season in Washington.

Major offensive pitchers Carson Wentz, Jalen Reagor, Miles Sanders and Lane Johnson all participated in the open training period at the NovaCare complex.

Reagor was performing receiving drills and even fielding kicks in practice, which could be a sign that he will be healthy enough to play on Sunday.

Wentz had not practiced since August 29 due to a lower body injury, Reagor had been out since August 30 with a slight tear in his shoulder, Sanders had been out since August 19 with a lower body injury body and Johnson had been away since August. 23 with a lower body injury.

Defensive thieves Genard Avery (out since Aug 26 with a lower body injury) and Vinny Curry (out since Aug 25 with a lower body) are also back at work.

Even top runner Derek Barnett, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since the start of camp, was on the field and participating in individual drills during the portion of training that was open to the media. Barnett had a helmet but no pads, meaning he won’t be doing team drills later in the day.

Officially, the Eagles have listed the following players as limited participants:

  • Derek Barnett (ham ring)
  • Lane Johnson (ankle)
  • Jalen Reagor (shoulder)
  • Miles Sanders (hamstrings)

And two Eagles didn’t practice:

  • Javon Hargrave (pectoral, hamstrings)
  • Alshon Jeffery (foot)

It’s still not clear exactly who will be available on Sunday, but what is encouraging is that one would think that anyone training in the pads on Wednesday would likely miss only one game at most and stand a chance of winning. ‘go there Sunday depending on how the rest of the world. the last week.

Of the whole group, Wentz is a lock to play and Johnson now appears to be with his first job in 2.5 weeks. The others are rather wait-and-see.

The Eagles will release their official NFL-mandated injury report later today.

As for Hargrave, he’s clearly behind everyone with his pec strain which has sidelined him since training camp started over three weeks ago.

Neither Hargrave nor Alshon Jeffery were seen during the open portion of practice.

Barnett (ankle) is also behind, although it was a good sign that he was in a helmet (but no pads) and in the field working to the side. He has also not practiced since the start of the camp.
