Arsenal decide to inject money to finance the transfers of Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar

Aston Villa has reportedly made a second offer for Arsenal’s Emiliano Martinez.

According to The Athletic, Dean Smith’s team made a second offer for the 28-year-old, which is said to be closer to the Gunners’ £ 20m valuation.

However, the report says Martinez will not be allowed to leave Emirates Stadium until a suitable replacement is signed between links with Brentford’s David Raya.

With the start of the new Premier League season just days away, Arsenal are ready to make a decision that will go a long way in determining whether or not to receive an unexpected transfer.

As reported by football.london, the Gunners would ideally like to keep Martinez and are ready to offer him a new contract which will have a significant pay raise on his £ 25,000 a week salary.

However, they are aware that the goalkeeper wants regular first-team football to dedicate his long-term future to the club.

“I have shown the club that I can play for them and when I return next season I will need more matches,” Martinez said last month. “Only then will I stay at Arsenal.

“My goal is to consolidate my place with Arsenal and reach the Argentine national team as number one.

“I will not stop until I have that and if I don’t play for Arsenal then clearly I would go on.”

A clear indication of Martinez’s status is likely to come this week as the writing will almost certainly be on the wall if Bernd Leno starts against Fulham.

That said, it is safe to say that this potential transfer has been given the green light by a number of Arsenal fans as the cash injection could be very beneficial.

After the arrival of Brazilian duo Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes, Mikel Arteta is expected to reshape his Arsenal midfield during the summer transfer window.

football.londonunderstands that the Gunners want to tighten their central midfield with the signing of Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, as the Ghanaian international is considered the perfect player to add some dynamism to the team.

Additionally, a creative midfielder is also on Arteta’s radar and Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar is up to par.

Partey’s release clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid is £ 45m, and technical director Edu would be in talks with Lyon for Aouar, which could cost the same amount.

All of this means that the Gunners must raise funds to bolster their midfield options for the 2020/21 season.

And this is where Martinez’s sale to Aston Villa for £ 20m could come in handy.
