Zarco: “I thought I would appeal but it would be complicated” – Fil Info – Moto

“I am not happy with the penalty. I thought I would appeal but that would be complicated and would postpone the question even further. And if my appeal is not accepted it would not be a good thing so I would rather leave the pit lane this weekend and end this story which is not funny ”, said Johann Zarco, the French MotoGP rider, who is allowed to take part in practice and qualifying for the Styrian Motorcycle Grand Prix on Saturday, as well as the race on Sunday, organizers said on Friday.

Injured during the previous Austrian GP and operated on Wednesday for his right scaphoid, Zarco had to wait for the opinion of a medical commission to race. The latter issued a favorable opinion. He was also sanctioned Friday for “irresponsible driving”, for his role in the accident last Sunday, on the same circuit of Spielberg, when he had clashed with the Italian driver Franco Morbidelli. If he qualifies on Saturday, and regardless of his qualifying time, Zarco will therefore have to start from the pit lane at the start of the race scheduled for Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
