Yamaha Reveals the Causes of Maverick Vinales Blong Brakes at MotoGP Styria

KOMPAS.com – Yamaha explained why their rider’s brakes, Maverick Vinales, failed when the 2020 Styria MotoGP took place, Sunday (23/8/2020) evening WIB.

Maverick Vinales’ motorcycle brakes failed on the 17th lap before turn 1 of the Red Bull Ring Circuit.

The incident forced Vinales to jump off his motorbike at a speed of 230 km / h to avoid an accident.

Motor Vinales drove freely without steering until it hit a wall of air.

The motorbike soon caught fire and Vinales failed to gain points in the fifth series of the 2020 MotoGP.

“What happened to Vinales was not something we expected,” said Monster Energy Yamaha Team Director Massimo Meregalli. Crash.

“We chose to use the standard Brembo brake system. Because this system brings changes and Valentino Rossi, Fabio Quartararo, and Franco Morbidelli use this system.”

“Meanwhile Vinales did not, because he never experienced very high temperatures like our other riders last weekend,” said Meregalli.

“When he tried the new system, Vinales didn’t have feel that he’s looking for, “said Meregalli.

Then, Yamaha decided to use a different brake system for Vinales than the three other Yamaha riders, Rossi, Quartararo and Morbidelli.

“So for these two reasons, we decided to use a conventional (brake) system,” said Meregalli.

“Maybe because Vinales was behind the other riders he couldn’t cool the system down and after the fifth lap he felt something, but tried to manage it,” said Meregalli.

Now, Yamaha is learning from Vinales’ failed brake case at the 2020 Styria MotoGP.

“Unfortunately, everything has happened. Fortunately, Vinales is fine. That’s the most important,” said Meregalli continued.

“Now we will try to understand exactly what happened, but it will not be easy because the bike is not in good shape,” he said.
