Video: Drift competition Biķernieki track “Raganas Katlā” – Motor sports – Car

The event could be followed live on the TVNET portal, but the live recording can also be viewed here:

This part of Biķernieki track stands out with thorough changes of terrain, opaque curves and small safety zones, making it an unforgettable experience for both riders and spectators. Knowing the level of pilots and the fact that this year the PRO class has the first competition in Latvia, this stage will definitely be remembered with an impressive performance.

“Raganas katls” attracts riders and spectators with its specifics – drift is not observed from the grandstands, but from the hills on the track, as well as the entrance to the Raganas katls is from a completely different side in Biķernieki. It is not possible to see the track from the participants’ park, so all the riders, mechanics, spectators meet in one place, inside the witch’s cauldron to enjoy the competition together.

“Raganas katla” will have an open participants ‘park, which cannot be bypassed at all, because otherwise there will be no possibility to get to the competition, the use of face masks will be mandatory in the participants’ park. From the hills on the sides of the track it is possible to see almost the whole track. Also this year, a video screen will be placed for spectators to see the track, and a screen will also be placed in the participants’ park. In addition, this is the time when the organizers invite you to safely take your chairs, poufs, etc. from home to enjoy the drift in the “Witch’s Pot”.

A total of more than 45 participants will take part in the start, this time in Biķernieki athletes from Finland, Estonia and Lithuania will gather, who will be joined by Latvian drivers in both Semi Pro and Pro classes. Unfortunately, this year, due to the situation in the world, Swedish and Norwegian athletes do not have the opportunity to join this competition, although it was included in the season plans. From Latvian athletes in the PRO class we will see Ēriks Ulas, Ingemārs Jēkabsons, Ivo Cīrulis, Raiti Maurāns and this year the new Latvian Pro pilots, who have ridden the short track configuration in Raganas cauldron, Nikolass Bertāns, Rolands Bērziņš, will take part in the PRO competition on this track. Artūrs Miškinis.

It is a great pleasure that Latvians will also be joined by PRO pilot Raivis Alkšārs, who unfortunately had a serious accident on the Estonian stage, but the car has been repaired, and we will see Raivi at the start on Saturday. The PRO class will have its third stage in the Livonian Championship, which will be the first PRO stage this year in Latvia. The semi-class of the Latvian drift cup will have its fourth stage, which will be the combined stage with the Estonian semi-pro riders, but Lithuanian riders will also join the start, which will make the fights even fiercer.

Looking at the list of participants, we should definitely mention the strong Lithuanian riders Benediktas Čirba and Andrius Vasiluskas, who are very fierce competitors in the fight for the title of Lithuanian drifting champion 2020. From Estonia to the start we will also see the Estonian championship leaders Ao Vaida and Oliver Randala two weeks ago. in the ongoing DMEC competition.
