United defender Lindelöf arrests bag thief in Sweden after chase | NOW

Victor Lindelöf performed a heroic deed on Monday in Västeras, Sweden. The Manchester United defender arrested a man who stole a 90-year-old woman’s bag.

According to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet the thief struck as he passed the woman on the bicycle. Lindelöf decided to pursue the man and managed to arrest him, then held the thief until the police arrived.

Although Swedish authorities did not disclose who chased and arrested the purse thief, Manchester United has confirmed, according to British media, that it is indeed 26-year-old Lindelöf.

The victim says in conversation with Aftonbladet that she would like to treat the Swedish defender to lunch to thank him. “I didn’t know right away that he was a footballer, but it was clear that he is in good shape. He ran over walkways and walls.”

Lindelöf, who was born in Västeras and played as a youth player at the local football club, has been under contract with Manchester United since the summer of 2017. The 33-time international has a permanent base at ‘The Red Devils’.

The news about Lindelöf comes a few days after Harry Maguire, his teammate at the heart of the defense, showed his worst side. United’s captain was arrested on the Greek island of Mykonos for possible involvement in a brawl. He was released on Saturday.
