Uni will play a place in the Euroleague with Sepsi

Spar Girona will have to get rid of the Romanian Sepsis to repeat this season in the women’s Euroleague. FIBA made official yesterday the teams registered in the top continental competitions and one of the novelties is that Spain, which last year only had one place in the Euroleague, occupied by the Uni as league champions, this year opts to two (one insured for Perfumerías Avenida, leader when the championship was stopped due to the virus, and the other in the hands of the Girona team if it passes the previous phase).

Thanks to a higher score in the last three seasons, the eliminatory one – programmed to double party – will be decided in Fontajau, still with the unknown of if it will be able to welcome or not public. The first leg will be played on September 23 and the return leg on September 30, and before that Spar Girona will have already played in the Catalan League, the Super Cup and will have made its debut in the League.

The two teams that will complete the Euroleague will emerge from the qualifier between Uni and Sepsi, and the Izmit Belediyespor – Aluinvent Miskolc. The losers will go to the Eurocup. The 14 confirmed sets are: Ekaterinburg, Lyon ASVEL, Fenerbahçe, Sopron, Arka Gdynia, Perfumerías Avenida, Prague, Famila Schio, TTT Riga, Dynamo Kursk, Bourges, Galatasaray, Nadezhda and Landes. The draw for the group stage will take place in Munich on 17 August.

Uni starts pre-season training today. Yesterday the players and coaches underwent medical checkups and PCR tests. Surís will start working with first team players Soler, Laia Palau, Elonu, Araújo, Reisingerova and Oma, as well as linked Bagaria, Daura, Moya, Iho López and Vane González.
