Ottmar Hitzfeld has admitted that Liverpool-linked midfielder Thiago Alcantara will be a big loss for his old club, but the former Bayern Munich manager still hopes Hansi Flick can persuade David Alaba to stay.
Thiago and Alaba both played key roles in Bayern’s 2019-20 triple run, with their latest outings of the season coming on Sunday with their Champions League final victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
The appearance of the former in the showpiece should be Bayern’s last as they prepare to face a new challenge away from Germany.
