Training Camp Workbook: Chefs Looking to Start in 2020

the Kansas City Chiefs concluded his 2020 training camp with a training in the rain at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday. Here’s what we saw at the end of the camp:

Andrew Wylie solidified as a starting right guard

Meanwhile, veteran offensive lineman Mike Remmers rotated at several locations along the line throughout attacking practice, including right guard and right tackle.

Linebacker Ben niemann was the clear starter as WILL linebacker

The defense remained in their basic formation for the majority of their team period, revealing Anthony Hitchens as MIKE, Damien Wilson as SAM and Ben Niemann as WILL linebacker. Niemann’s experience as a dime cover linebacker last year led to him becoming the first WILL – a position that requires athleticism and cover skills.

Rookie linebacker Willie Gay Jr. didn’t see the field with the first team defense.

Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was the starter opposite Charvarius Guard

With cornerback Bashaud Breeland suspended for the first four games, the Chiefs have hinted they need a rotation to the second cornerback position next to Ward. In final testing, rookie Sneed won the majority of reps with the first team defense.

As the team period progressed, cornerbacks BoPete Keyes and Antonio Hamilton turned on the outside in front of Ward.

Defensive tackle Khalen Saunders shared the representatives of the first team with Derrick nnadi

Saunders appeared to be the first man to come out with defense alongside defensive tackle Chris Jones, but Nnadi was shot shortly after. Nnadi was injured at the camp, but returned to training on Friday.

Defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon took all the representatives of the first team in front Frank Clark

Defensive end Alex Okafor missed practice, but it looks like Kpassagnon has claimed a starting position on defense. It was in every rep that the first team defense took in the team period.

Defensive end Taco Charlton appeared to be the next player. He’s also aligned with the second-team defense against Breeland Speaks.

Tight end Nick keizer is the second tight end; Deon Yelder did not practice

Keizer was clearly working with the first team’s attack as a tight second end, being used for his blocking ability. His compatriot Ricky Seals-Jones saw snaps in more than one receiving role as the attack turned into different skill players.

Keizer still had several catches in the team period.

Marcus Kemp gets a run with the first team attack

In the wide rotation of attacking receivers, Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins were clearly the two starters. Mecole Hardman was there as the third receiver – and after that, Kemp played with Demarcus Robinson, Byron Pringle and Gehrig Dieter.

Kemp caught a pass from Mahomes on the sideline for a nice win in a tag team period.

Come back Darrel williams was the second back; Darwin thompson the third

Rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire took most of the initial reps off the running back, but Darrel Williams saw the second-highest number of shots with the offense. Darwin Thompson followed Williams as the third back.

DeAndre Washington didn’t see any team working with them.

Cornerback Rashad Fenton only took reps as a cornerback

Fenton didn’t have any rooms to line up on the outside. Fenton only saw 41 shots at the outside cornerback in 2019.
