The Spanish Skate Sailing Championship is held from this Wednesday until Saturday, August 29. Three years have passed since Cádiz welcomed a National of the class in its waters and it is now, in its 77th edition, when it returns to Andalusia. This will be the sixth Spanish championship to be held in Andalusia, after the five disputed in Cádiz (years 2202-2008-2012-2017) and in Almería in 2007.

In a year full of uncertainty, the call was close to success, with fifty skippers competing for one of the most expensive titles in the national dinghy. Six champions from Spain attend the event and among them will be the Catalan Jordi Lamarca, who claims to be the skipper with the most championships to his credit, a total of nine. With three, Ramón Calero follows, with the last one achieved in 2017 in Chipiona, and with one each, Rafael Ruiz (2005) and José Vicente Climent (2013), Pau Gratacos (2011) and Albert Batlleria who achieved it in the 2015. Along with them, Carlos de Bricio, current Andalusian champion who lifted the Spanish Cup in 2016, also boasts a national title.

De Bricio, CN Sevilla athlete, is one of the great favorites in top form after winning the Nautical Week of El Puerto de Santa María a few days ago, and together with Climent, skipper of RCN de El Puerto, he can give a lot of play in the winds soft, while Calero will feel more comfortable as the intensity increases. Although they are safe values in the pools, they are not the only ones, among a fleet where equality and competitiveness are the order of the day. This is the case, among others, of Rafael Ruiz, Luis Alfonso Pérez Nogués or Jose María Alarcón, from the CV Bahía de Cádiz; Alfonso Merello from CN Puerto Sherry, Javier Rebollo from Huelva from CDN Punta Umbría, or the Catalans Jordi Aranega and Pere Crespo.

As far as wind is concerned, the weather forecast announces days of Levante and Poniente winds with intensity for all tastes. At 3:00 p.m. this Wednesday, August 26, is the appointment in the regatta area to start with the first of the two scheduled tests and so on every day until Saturday 29.
