Stephen A. Smith’s ESPN responsibilities grow

Stephen A. Smith will be an even bigger part of ESPN’s NBA coverage going forward.

Smith is added to “NBA Countdown” for the remainder of the playoffs and through to the finals, The Post has learned. Smith, 52, and the network’s highest-paid commentator with around $ 8 million a year, is already ubiquitous on ESPN, starting with his starring role in “First Take.”

This year, ESPN added a Smith-led “SportsCenter” as its pre-game in its Wednesday action. That schedule was wiped out by the pandemic, so Smith will now join Maria Taylor, Jay Williams and Jalen Rose on the main set of “Countdown”. Adrian Wojnarowski is the initiator of the bubble program. Paul Pierce will also contribute from a distance.
