Report: Raptors’ Fred VanVleet should draw interest from Knicks, Pistons, Suns

After starring for the Toronto Raptors in the first series of the title defense, it seems that Fred VanVleet’s incredible game of late hasn’t gone unnoticed by the rest of the NBA.

VanVleet had a dominant start to the defending champions, scoring 21.3 points and 7.8 assists across the Brooklyn Nets’ four Toronto games, leading the team in scoring in games 1 and 2.

Second AtleticoShams Charania, a “strong market” is expected for the 26-year-old when he enters free agency at the end of this post-season run.

Charania pointed to the New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns as the clubs “that should emerge as suitors” for VanVleet.

He also added that the Rockford, Illinois native is a free agent on his shoe deal as well – VanVleet recently signed a sponsorship deal with AND1 – and has “more suitors” for a new deal on that front as well. .

Emerging as a key element for the Raptors over the course of their league campaign, VanVleet found new gear during post-season 2020, reigning as the team’s most powerful offensive threat in the bubble to date, while remaining a reliable defensive presence.
