Pepe Reina has again changed clubs for the 2020/2021 season. The Spanish goalkeeper was officially proposed by Lazio.
Reina is actually still under a year’s contract with Milan after joining in 2018. However, Reina rarely gets a place because she cannot compete with Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Reina even had to go on loan to Aston Villa in the second half of last season and made 12 appearances there. Feeling no longer needed at Milan, Reina finally asked for his contract to be terminated.
Milan fulfilled that and the 38-year-old player finally confirmed his move to Lazio, Thursday (27/8/2020) evening WIB, Reina got a two-year contract.
For Reina, Lazio is his third club in Italy after Napoli and Milan. Reina first came to Italy in 2013/2014 while on loan by Liverpool to Napoli. He then moved to Bayern Munich the season after.
In the 2015 season, Reina returned to Napoli on a permanent contract and played until 2018. During her Rossoneri uniform, Reina only appeared 12 times in all competitions.
Pepe Reina’s arrival is expected to become a competitor for Thomas Strakosha, who has been difficult to shift from the main place. Moreover, Lazio will appear in the Champions League next season, so Reina’s experience is needed.
