Ranking the field for the BMW championship, 70 to 1 – The Athletic

If you were away from the TV over the weekend, you were lucky to avoid seeing a murder. Dustin Johnson gutted poor TPC Boston for a total of 30 under 254s for an 11-shot win on a strong pitch. With the win, one that came nine weeks after Johnson’s victory at the Travelers Championship and two weeks after tinkering with 54 holes at the PGA Championship, DJ has entered the “best player in the world” conversation for the umpteenth time. It also laid a good foundation for the last two FedEx Cup playoff events.

Seventy players made it to Olympia Fields for this week’s BMW Championship, the second leg of the playoffs of three events. A few big names are missing: Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson, and Tommy Fleetwood, among others.
