The 2020 BMW Championship at Olympia Fields starts on Thursday and should be a great one given the complexity of the course and the breadth of the players involved. Dustin Johnson leads the FedEx Cup standings with just eight rounds in the playoffs, but Justin Thomas – the defending champion at this tournament – is on his heels. Right behind them are plenty of players – including Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, and Sungjae Im – looking to move up to # 1 overall in the Tour Championship next week (whoever # 1 is going to start the Tour Championship at 10 under).
Tiger Woods is much further down and needs a Top 6 result on Sunday to reach the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club. With the way he did it last week at The Northern Trust, I wouldn’t get over that this week as everyone outside of Chicago is knocking it off. A lot is at stake in this no-cut event and I can promise that the profit on this tough track won’t be below 30 like it was last week. But just like a few days ago at TPC Boston, the best of the best will no doubt emerge with just two more events in the 2019-20 PGA Tour season.
