Premier League: “I love Arsenal”

FIFA World Cup winner Ozil was reportedly considering an exit from Emirates Stadium after failing to appear for the Gunners after the lockdown.

Last week Arsenal announced plans to lay off 55 employees due to the coronavirus pandemic and are said to be eager to get Ozil’s salary – claimed to be £ 350,000 (A $ 640,000) per week – from the salary.

However, the 31-year-old playmaker insists he will stay at the club and give it his all during next season.

“My position is clear. I am here until the last day of our agreement and I will give everything I have for this club,” said Ozil Atletico.

“Situations like these will never break me, they only make me stronger. I have shown in the past that I can get back into the team and I will prove it again.”

Regarding reports that Arsenal were considering buying Ozil from their last year on the contract, he said: “I’ll decide when I go, not other people. I haven’t signed for two or three years, I’ve signed for four and it should be respected by all “.

Ozil’s latest deal was a three and a half year deal announced in February 2018.

“Things have obviously been tough, but I love Arsenal, I love working there, I love the people in the club – the real people, the ones I’ve been with for a long time – and I love London, it’s my home,” Ozil said.

He claims he could have made “a lot more money” as a free agent, but had agreed to extend his contract with Arsenal due to his engagement with the club, saying coach Mikel Arteta “knows my qualities”.

“I’m not going into pre-season thinking, ‘Senior year, I can relax – I know I’m not playing,'” he said.

“These are not easy times for Arsenal and I want to help. I still have a lot to offer and I train as much as I can, whether I am in the team or not.”
