Potential top pick in NFL draft to play 1 game in fall: report

The potential NFL’s No.1 pick in next year’s draft would have just one game to show the world what he’s made of.

North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance will play in a game against central Arkansas on October 3, Yahoo Sports reported on Monday. The state of North Dakota announced earlier this month that it would not be playing football in the fall due to concerns about the coronavirus.

NFL DRAFT CLASS 2021 MAY CONTAIN THE NEXT BEST THINGS IN FOOTBALL

Yahoo Sports reported that the school recently signed a contract with Central Arkansas to play.

Lance is a relative unknown to the average NFL fan who normally doesn’t watch Championship Subdivision football games on Saturdays instead of Priority Business. Draft experts believe he ranks up there with Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields, who are expected to be the top picks next year.

Lance hasn’t officially declared himself for the draft, but his run through the FCS could make him ideal for teams – in the same way Carson Wentz intrigued franchises in 2016.

He threw for 2,786 yards and 28 touchdowns last season. He was also named MVP of the 2020 title game against James Madison.
