PJ Hall, abandoned by Raiders after trade failure, signs with Texans

The Houston Texans on Thursday signed defensive tackle PJ Hall, who was called off by the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this month after a trade with the Minnesota Vikings failed after a physical failure.

The terms of Hall’s contract with the Texans were not disclosed.

The Vikings were set to send a conditional 2021 seventh-round draft pick to Las Vegas in exchange for Hall before the trade was called off.

Hall gives the Texans more depth inside their defensive line after nasal tackle Eddie Vanderdoes opted out of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Houston also lost rookie free agency tackle DJ Reader when he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 25-year-old Hall has played 30 games (18 starts) for the Raiders in the past two seasons after the team selected him in the second round of the 2018 Draft. He had 48 tackles and 1.5 bags, which came last season, at that time.

The Texans gave up offensive tackle David Steinmetz in a corresponding move Thursday.
