Stephan Lichtsteiner thinks that Andrea Pirlo is similar to Zinedine Zidane. Pirlo will not scream on the sidelines like Antonio Conte and Diego Simeone.
Juventus has appointed Pirlo as the new coach to replace Maurizio Sarri. The 41-year-old man was contracted for two years with no coaching experience.
Juventus’ decision shocked Lichtsteiner, but still believes Pirlo can succeed. The man from Switzerland was a team with Pirlo while at Juventus.
Lichtsteiner also mentioned that Pirlo has the same character as Zinedine Zidane. Pirlo admits he will not resemble Conte and Simeone, who like to be fiery on the side of the field.
“The news surprised me, but only for a few seconds. It was a very good choice, Andrea has incredible credibility,” Lichtsteiner told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“He will succeed in managing the team. He is calm, kind, and knows the environment. He reminds me of (Real Madrid coach Zinedine) Zidane, of course not (Inter coach Antonio) Conte or (Atletico Madrid coach Diego) Simeone,” he continued.
“He will scream when needed. The important thing is he has a good influence on the team. I have no doubt about that,” said the man who just hung up his boots.
Pirlo started training Juventus on Monday (24/8/2020). Pirlo will be assisted by Igor Tudor as assistant coach.
Under Tudor there are Roberto Baronio and Antonio Gagliardi, who have experience in the Italian national team. Baronio has worked as an under-19 coach and Gagliardi has worked as a match analyst in the senior team, while Paolo Bertelli, who was at Juventus from 2011 to 2014, served as head physical coach.
