Could former Knick Justin Holiday find his way back to New York?
Indiana Pacers guard and upcoming free agent Justin Holiday, who played for the New York Knicks in 2016-17, is someone the new front office is hoping to sign this offseason. According to J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star, the Knicks “I really want it. “
The rumor was tweeted on Friday with Michael indicating that Holiday had “gotten a little sour about something.” [sic] who went down ”in Indiana, and for that reason, the 31-year-old guard never wants to return to the Pacers.
However, Holiday refuted the part of the report by suggesting that he wasn’t happy by commenting on an Instagram post that aggregated the rumor.
“Idk what [Michael] he’s talking ” Holiday wrote in the comments on the IG post saying she was unhappy. “He didn’t hear this from me.”
Holiday earned $ 4.8 million last season on a one-year contract with the Pacers. He recently changed his agent to Bernie Lee, according to Yahoo, who also represents superstar and former teammate Jimmy Butler.
The Knicks will have around $ 50 million of roof space this off-season, depending on where the cap stops based on the coronavirus affecting the league’s revenues.
Holiday is coming out of a career season shooting basketball from the deep, where he has connected 40.5% of his attempts. It provided Indiana with a strong presence in 3 and D off the bench.
While playing for the Knicks, Holiday appeared in all 82 games of the 2016-17 season under coach Jeff Hornacek. He was one of the acquired players in the deal that brought Derrick Rose to the Big Apple. Holiday would eventually return with the Bulls as a free agent after the 2017 season.
Prior to this latest Indy Star report, it was believed that Holiday would return to the Pacers. After being indifferent to playing in the bubble, wanting to focus on social justice issues from home, he decided to play, doing a little bit of everything in the Pacers first round exit, averaging 7.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 stolen and 1.3 blocks.
