For the Broncos, things seem to be getting worse and worse. Young striker Thomas Flegler is said to be out for the rest of the season.
The courier mail Pete Badel reports that Flegler is in need of a shoulder reconstruction and is facing a five-month recovery. The 20-year-old is also reportedly determined to play through the injury this weekend before undergoing surgery as the injury situation is so dire in Brisbane.

BREAKING: Bronco’s Injury Curse Strikes Again!
Tom Flegler had scans today. Requires a shoulder mount. Faces five months off.
Incredibly, Brisbane’s injury rate is so high he’s considering playing with a broken shoulder this week before he has surgery. Whole story @cmail_sport– Pete Badel (@badel_cmail) 17th August 2020
Striker star striker Dale Finucane will miss the rest of the regular season with a calf injury.
The club confirmed in a statement on Monday that the 28-year-old Finucane suffered a torn calf during training and will have to take a six-week break. He is expected to recover in time for the final.
It is a huge disappointment for Finucane, who would have played his 200th NRL game against the Aale on Thursday.
Finucane joins injured Storm stars Cameron Munster, Suliasi Vunivalu, Jahrome Hughes and Cameron Smith. Smith is expected to return this week, however.
GRAPHIC WARNING – FOR IMAGE UNROLL: Manly expects Joel Thompson to be fully fit for the duel with South Sydney at the weekend, although the second rower partially cut his tongue in the defeat in Newcastle.
Thompson bit his tongue during Sunday’s Knights loss between 26 and 24. His teammate Curtis Sironen revealed the gruesome consequences on social media.
Sea Eagles Physio James Rahme said Thompson is likely to be well suited for this weekend’s match-up with the Rabbitohs.
“You normally make a pretty good recovery from injuries like this, so I would imagine Joel should play this week,” said Rahme.
Manly sent Thompson to a plastic surgeon to have his tongue sewn on Sunday night.
However, there is less positive news with framing that explains Brendan Elliot’s season is over due to an ACL rupture.
As Rahme confirmed, Tom Trbojevic is still not ready to return, which means Des Hasler is likely to assist Reuben Garrick in the fullback against the Bunnies.
“It’s out of our control and unfortunately it’s beyond Tom’s control,” said Rahme. “He is 95 percent there for the healed tissue.
“Once that’s healed, we can really push him onto the field and get him back on the team.”
Cade Cust and Jack Gosiewki finished the game with punches, but both should be fine.
