Great NRL employee Cooper Cronk believes Cameron Smith will retire at the end of the season as the pressure mounts on the Storm skipper to call his future.
Cronk played with Smith in Storm for 14 years, where they won two premierships, and says based on what he knows about the 37-year-old, he’s preparing for his final hoorah.

“I don’t know what he’s doing or what he’s thinking, but I think he will retire later this year,” Cronk told the Fox League Super Saturday.
“The reason I say this is because I think the past two weeks are a clue. The Cameron and Storm I know are preparing him for one final attack.
“He’s rested for two weeks, he hardly misses two games, especially against the Roosters and Parramatta. I think he’s preparing for one final shot at that trophy. “
It comes asThe daily telegraph The storm reportedly expects Smith to make a decision before clashing with Manly next Sunday.
Smith told that telegraph In mid-July he was three weeks away from a decision. Five weeks later and there is still no word on whether the greatest whore, arguably the player of all time, will hang up his boots at the end of the season.
The former Maroons and Kangaroos captain has never been pressured to call his future. He decided not to play until November this year. But it’s a very different situation this year, with the future of future game superstars Brandon Smith and Harry Grant resting on decision.
Brandon Smith’s manager wrote to the Storm saying they would seek a release if Cameron continues to play.
There was a lot of interest in Smith’s future. He was associated with moves to the Broncos and even the Titans for a final year at the NRL in 2021.

However, the Titans’ cultural manager Mal Meninga says there have been no conversations with Smith.
“None at all,” he told Super Saturday.
“We understand the situation and respect that it is Cameron’s choice.
“I think there are a lot of clubs waiting in the starting blocks for that decision. So if Cameron tells the storm to keep playing, realistically all the other blocks will follow.”
When asked if the Titans would be interested in Melbourne’s other two very good hookers Brandon Smith and Harry Grant, Meninga admitted that they were two players he would like to have at the club.
“There is certainly (interest in Brandon Smith and Harry Grant) but every club will chase these two guys.
“If Cameron has made the decision he wants to play on and the Storm may not want to sign him for a few more years, there are a number of clubs that will chase Cameron Smith too … that’s it Intrigue with everything. It all depends on what Cameron wants to do. “
